There has been an increase in the number of traffic-related fatalities in Tennessee this year compared to data from the previous year. In 2017, 984 deaths were reported as a result of car accidents, and 1,014 fatalities have been reported in 2018. Authorities sadly anticipate that there may be more fatalities before the year comes to an end. Unfortunately, a single-car crash recently added to the number of fatalities in Tennessee when two passengers were killed.
The events proceeding the accident are unknown. The sedan that crashed contained three passengers and a driver. At some point, it drove off of the interstate and into a wooded area. It came to a stop after striking a tree.
One passenger was thrown from the vehicle and suffered serious injuries, and the passenger did not survive. Rescue workers had to use special hydraulic tools to pry the other victims from the vehicle. The driver and one passenger were able to be removed from the vehicle, and both suffered serious injuries. A second passenger was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The investigation is pending.
In-car accidents such as this one, passengers and families of deceased victims may wish to speak to a Tennessee personal injury attorney. An attorney can review the collected evidence of a case and may advise a family if there are any options to claim compensation from an assumed negligent driver. Attorneys may advise victims or family members of deceased victims to file a claim against the driver's auto insurance, or some may have a case for a personal injury lawsuit.
